FULL TIME | Edinburgh South 3–0 Dunbar United

A superb performance at Paties Road as South pick up their first three points of the season with a dominant 3–0 victory over Dunbar United.

South controlled the game well from the opening stages, limiting Dunbar to very few opportunities, and took a deserved lead after 19 minutes. Kenny O’Brien stepped up to a free kick from the right-hand side of the box and smashed an excellent effort high beyond the goalkeeper and into the net.

The advantage was doubled in the second half after Lewis Bushnell capitalised on a difficult bounce and got beyond former South goalkeeper Aaron Hamilton. Hamilton brought him down, with the resulting incident ending in a penalty and a red card for the Dunbar keeper. O’Brien stepped up from the spot to make it 2–0 and grab his second of the night.

Dunbar pushed forward late on, but South stood resolute and defended everything that came their way. Our trialist goalkeeper also produced an outstanding stop from a free kick heading towards the top corner.

Ben McManus then rounded off the scoring late on. After the goalkeeper spilled the ball, Ben reacted quickest and calmly slotted home for his second goal of the season and South’s third of the night.

An excellent performance from everyone involved tonight. South battled, defended brilliantly and controlled large spells of the game to secure a thoroughly deserved first victory of the season.
