Match Report Mens Team - Dundonald Blubell

FULL TIME | DUNDONALD BLUEBELL 1-2 EDINBURGH SOUTH

A huge three points on the road for South after a battling performance against Dundonald Bluebell.

South were forced into an early change when Youssef Bejaoui, who had stepped in to help between the sticks, picked up an injury. Lucas McGarry took over in goal and produced an assured performance for the remainder of the game.

The first half was a frantic affair, with both sides battling hammer and tong but neither able to find the breakthrough before the interval.

South came out after half-time with more quality and soon got their reward. After keeping the ball alive inside the Dundonald box, Fletcher Hendry brilliantly lifted it over the goalkeeper before being caught. Kenny O’Brien stepped up from the spot and, as calm as ever, slotted home his 60th goal for Edinburgh South.

Just five minutes later, South doubled the lead. Ben McManus picked the ball up in the middle of the park and drove forward before slipping Fletcher in. Fletcher cut inside, beat his men and worked the ball onto his left foot before finishing brilliantly across the goalkeeper into the bottom corner.

Dundonald pulled one back from a free-kick on the edge of the box before piling on the pressure in the final 10 minutes.

South stood firm, defending superbly and showing immense work rate to see the game out and secure a thoroughly deserved three points.
