Match Report Mens U20s - Leith Athletic

Leith 3–2 South

South started the game on the front foot and looked sharp early on, creating two good chances inside the opening 10 minutes. Despite that positive start, Leith began to grow into the game, with their physical presence in the middle of the park disrupting South’s rhythm.

The breakthrough came for the hosts after a move down the left, finished emphatically to give Leith the lead. South struggled to respond and found themselves further behind before the break, going in 2–0 down at half time.

The second half began with a better intent from South, but they were punished again as Leith extended their lead to 3–0.

To their credit, South responded immediately. Shane Majekodunmi produced a brilliant finish to pull one back and spark some belief. Just five minutes later, good work from Shaun Lamont created the opportunity for Riley Selcraig to finish well and make it 3–2.

From there, South pushed hard for an equaliser, creating a number of promising chances, but couldn’t quite find the final touch as Leith held on for the win.

A disappointing result overall, especially after the momentum built from last week’s cup performance, but positives to take from the reaction and attacking threat shown late in the game.
