Match Report Mens U20s - Leith Athletic

FULL TIME | SOUTH 3–1 LEITH

A strong performance from South last night against a very strong Leith side.

South started well, with Conor Grealis and Yassine Chakiry causing problems in the wide areas, while Sam Forsyth and James Christopher looked threatening up top. South created a number of good early chances, but the Leith goalkeeper dealt with them superbly.

The breakthrough eventually came when a corner broke to Yass, who rifled home to give South the lead. South continued to threaten for the remainder of the half and were unlucky not to extend their advantage before the break.

Leith came flying out in the second half and South had to stand up to a sustained spell of pressure. South defended well and limited the visitors to few clear chances, but Leith’s pressure eventually told when a delivery from the left was headed home for the equaliser.

Credit to South, the response was immediate. Yass restored the lead direct from a corner to make it 2–1 and South seemed to galvanise from there.

South finished the game strongly, with James Scobie smashing home the third after outstanding pressing from Shaun Lamont to seal an excellent 3–1 victory.
