Match Report Mens U20s - Linton Hotspur

UNDER 20s

Edinburgh South 4–1 Linton Hotspur

Another strong performance from the young South as we maintained our recent good form.

South started on the front foot, with James Christopher and Conor looking lively down the right. Riley was unlucky not to open the scoring with a superb 35-yard lob which narrowly failed to catch out the goalkeeper.

Our pressing paid off when Sam Forsyth won the ball high up the pitch before bending a brilliant finish into the top corner. Peter Gilchrist then doubled the lead, getting on the end of Sam’s corner to send South into half-time 2–0 ahead.

James Christopher added the third shortly after the restart with an outstanding individual run, carrying the ball 30 yards through several challenges before finding the net with the aid of a slight deflection.

Linton Hotspur pulled one back following a mix-up at the back, but South responded well. Excellent play down the left ended with Riley cutting the ball back for Sam Forsyth to bury his second of the night and complete the scoring.

Congratulations to 2010 Rio Hamilton-Scott, who made his Under-20s debut. Another talented player from Wes and Jamie’s 2010 group stepping up, Rio was unlucky not to mark the occasion with a goal after being denied by an offside flag late on.
