šļø Match Report- Edinburgh South CFC 2 ā 10 Arniston Rangers - Friday 16th January
āļøOur first home game at Holyrood High School arrived on a chilly evening, but weāll take those conditions any time compared to what weāve endured in the past.
ā½ļøWe set up in a cautious 3-3-2. Was it the right decision? Weāll come back to that. As has been the case so far this season, our start was hesitant - confidence a little low, decision-making rushed, and communication lacking. That cost us early, as we conceded a soft first goal after failing to talk to each other at the back.
š¤©To the teamās credit, heads didnāt drop. A great run and a finish from a tight angle saw Cat score our first goal of the season š„³ sparking celebrations that even brought Ralph the mascot onto the pitch š¤Spirits lifted, belief grew, and soon after a quick counter-attack ended with Laura smashing home a beauty to put us 2ā1 up.š
šAt that point, we felt we had enough to stay in the game. Unfortunately, Arniston responded immediately and equalised. We made a few changes, but one of the key lessons from today is clear: weāre not adapting to changes quickly enough, we are not claiming balls and shouting for it. Arniston took full advantage, punishing us with their experience and efficiency. By half-time, we found ourselves 2ā6 down.š
šŖThe team talk focused on adding more support through the middle, and the response in the second half was encouraging. We played with more bravery, increased the pace, and created far more chances. It was a much better performance. However, Arniston showed why they have strong league experience - they stayed ruthless and composed when it mattered.
š„ŗWe made too many mistakes overall, and thereās a lot to work on, particularly the basics, including throw-ins, talking to each ther more. The final score finished 2ā10, but it honestly didnāt feel like a game of that margin.
Gutted today, but this is only our third league match and weāre still finding our style. Take it on the chin, learn from it, and come back stronger.šŖ
