Blake Wales retires

❤️ THANK YOU, BLAKE 🤍

Blake Wales has decided to hang up his boots, and we’d like to thank him for everything he’s given to Edinburgh South.

Since joining from Tynecastle, Blake made an instant impact with his quality on the pitch and professionalism off it. A great servant to the club, he has spent the last two seasons as vice captain and played a huge part in helping South achieve two promotions in three seasons.

His leadership, commitment and the standards he set have made him a hugely valued figure within the dressing room.

Ainslie Hunter added:

“Gutted that Blake has decided to take a step back from football. He will be sorely missed by myself, the coaches and the players — although maybe not his tackles in training! 😂

“I chased Blake for two years before I finally managed to get him to sign, and it was a massive coup for the club. From the moment he arrived, he’s been a leader, a top professional and someone who set standards on and off the park.

“As vice captain, he was a massive help to myself, helping lead the team to two promotions in three seasons. We would all like to wish him the best going forward, and the door will always be open for a return.”

Everyone at Edinburgh South would like to thank Blake for everything he has given to the club and wish him all the best for the future.

Thank you, Blake. Always part of the South family. ❤️🤍
