A proper cup tie.

South started fast, Ryan Findlay beating two men before curling a brilliant opener into the far top corner. Inverkeithing responded quickly, levelling with a strike in off the bar.

Fletcher restored the lead after 20 minutes, his free kick taking a touch off the wall to wrong foot the keeper, but the hosts hit back again just two minutes later through a 1-on-1 finish. Inverkeithing then went ahead before the break with a clinical counter attack.

The second half saw Inverkeithing extend their lead with a composed low finish across goal. South responded well from the bench, Stuart Martin pulling one back with a quality strike from the edge of the box.

Right at the death, South’s pressure paid off. Fletcher drove to the byline and cut it back for Murray Connolly to fire home and force penalties.

From the spot, South held their nerve. Goals from Connolly, Martin, Majekodunmi and Clapperton secured a 4-3 shootout win, while Lewis Whitelaw was the hero with two huge saves, including the decisive penalty.
