A strong defensive display and a professional performance against a good Newtongrange side see South leave with all three points!
South showed their attacking threat early on, with Fletcher Hendry driving through the middle and slipping in Murray Connolly, whose effort was well blocked. Stuart Martin then came even closer when his curling strike beat the keeper but came back off the post. The hosts were reduced to ten men before the break, but South still had work to do to find the breakthrough.
There was plenty of promising play going forward, although the final pass went astray on several occasions. South kept working, and the opener arrived on 65 minutes. Darrell’s diagonal picked out Stuart Martin, who took the ball down the line before driving it across for substitute Cammy Dawson to turn home.
The second came on 82 minutes, with two more substitutes combining. James Christopher collected the ball out wide and drove past his man before squaring for Ryan Findlay to smash home from close range.
South defended well throughout, staying organised and showing the concentration needed to secure a clean sheet and an excellent away win.
