Match Report Mens Team - Whitehill Welfare

FULL TIME | Whitehill Welfare 2–4 Edinburgh South

A brilliant afternoon for South as we take all three points after an entertaining 4–2 victory.

Whitehill took the lead early on through Cammy Dawson, but South responded in style. Blake Wales produced a moment of quality to equalise - dropping the shoulder to beat his defender before calmly rolling the ball past the keeper.

South then turned the game around. Kenny O’Brien’s cross was met by Jack Blaney whose first effort came back off the post, but he reacted quickest to turn home the rebound and give South the lead.

Whitehill levelled things up again from the penalty spot with a superb strike into the top left corner, but South regained the advantage just before half time. Murray Connolly slipped Stuart Martin through and he did brilliantly to squeeze his finish in from a tight angle despite a defender trying to clear off the line.

The second half saw Whitehill push hard for an equaliser, but Lewis Whitelaw produced an unbelievable one-on-one save and later capitalised on a slack back pass to stop another dangerous attack. South defended resolutely throughout the half to protect their lead.

The points were sealed late on with a brilliant counter attack involving three of South’s youngsters. Aido won the ball back with excellent pressing, Yassine drove forward before picking out Shane Majekodunmi who finished clinically to make it four.

A strong team performance and a big three points for South. 🔴⚪
