FULL TIME REPORT

Cumbernauld Colts 4 - 1 Edinburgh South U20s

South made a strong start at Broadwood, pressing well and forcing mistakes early on. That pressure paid off when Riley pounced on a loose pass and finished smartly to put South 1-0 up inside the opening stages.

The first half was fairly even, with Cumbernauld seeing more of the ball but struggling to break South down. However, a lapse at a corner proved costly as an unmarked header brought the home side level, sending the teams in 1-1 at the break.

Cumbernauld started the second half brightly and were awarded a penalty which they converted to go 2-1 ahead. South almost hit back immediately when Riley broke through again, but a brilliant recovery tackle denied him a second.

A through ball from the Colts midfield sent their winger in on goal. Nate made a great first save, but the rebound fell kindly and Cumbernauld made it 3-1. Moments later, a powerful strike from the edge of the box stretched the lead to 4-1.

South kept pushing, created chances, and showed good character until the end, but couldn’t find a way back into the game and left Broadwood with a disappointing result.

Plenty to learn from and positives to take into next week as the boys look to respond.

The South starting Line up was as below.
